If you want the best off-road vehicle there is on the market, it doesn't get much better than a Wrangler. For 2025, this model still continues to dominate, and to prove it, we’ll compare it to the 2025 Bronco to show you why the Jeep Wrangler still leads over Ford Bronco in 2025.
Key takeaways

- Jeep encourages you to take the vehicle into tough conditions, even offering you a snorkel for when you want to take a dip in the Wrangler.
- The Jeep comes with more engine options, offering I4, V6, and even V8 options, unlike the Bronco’s I4, and V6 options.
- In reviews done by multiple companies, they note that the Bronco is better on pavement for a few reasons. If you’re looking for an off-road focused vehicle, you want better off-road performance.
Which is the best for off-roading: Wrangler.

When it comes to the best off-road vehicle, most people hear the word “Jeep” and that’s all they need to hear. For the Wrangler, this is no different.
When the weather starts to get warmer, you can easily remove the top, and remove the doors. This lets you feel the open air while you’re hitting the trails.
When reviewed by Edmunds, they state that “the Wrangler has been the go-to for off-road enthusiasts since, well, forever”. Even on its most basic trim levels, the “Wrangler has a surprising amount of off-road prowess”.
They also state that “There really is only one Jeep, but Ford's Bronco does a pretty good impression”. That it is “Equally rugged, better to drive on the pavement”. While this may seem like a great thing, Car and Driver notes that when you start to equip more off-road, the “fuel economy takes a big hit”.
While the Bronco does have the off-road spirit, it is mainly designed for pavement at the end of the day, unlike the rugged nature that is baked into the Wrangler’s DNA.
Which has more engines: Wrangler

For the engines, the Bronco only offers two to pick from. The base engine being a 2.3L I4, that produces 300 horsepower. The optional engine is a 2.7L V6 that can produce 330 horsepower.
The Wrangler offers more engines, and even more power. The base engine is nothing to write home about, but it will get the job done. This engine is the 3.6L V6 that has 285 horsepower. For the optional engines you have a 2.0L I4 that produces 270 horsepower.
There’s also a hybrid Wrangler that is available, if that’s more your speed. This produces 375 horsepower, but that’s on a sister build. The last engine that is available is the strongest one of them all. This is a 6.4L V8, it can produce 470 horsepower.
Which has more customization: Wrangler
With the Wrangler being around for decades, it has built a loyal base all built on one thing, and that’s to conquer the outdoors. Straight from the factory, Jeep offers a snorkel to help keep your engine clear when water starts to get deep.
The Wrangler also comes with a ton of options for the rood, making sure that no matter your preference, you’ll always be satisfied.
There’s also a ton of aftermarket additions thanks to the community we mentioned earlier. When you’re behind the wheel, whether on road or off, when you see that wave, you’ll know you’re in good company.
The same can’t be said about the Bronco, especially since it was already discontinued once. While it does offer options for the top of the Bronco, the snorkel option can’t be found. Really highlighting Ford’s mindset on their vehicles not being used for tough off-road conditions.
Which one is best for me?
If you’re planning on hitting the trails, or climbing rocks, it doesn’t get much better than the Wrangler. While other vehicles try to come close to its capability, the Wrangler is just better.
