The 2027 Compass will likely be far different from the model it replaces. But what isn't nearly as clear is when North American buyers will actually see it. Here's what we know so far about the upcoming Jeep Compass.
Key Takeaways

- The next Compass may use the STLA Medium platform, which supports gas, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains.
- North American production plans have changed several times, making the new Compass's arrival date uncertain.

When Will the New Jeep Compass Arrive?

That's one of the biggest unanswered questions. Production versions of the all-new Compass were expected to begin rolling off North American assembly lines in 2027, but Stellantis has repeatedly changed its manufacturing plans.
To move forward, you have to look back. In October 2025, the company announced plans to produce the Compass sometime in '27 at its Belv A month later, Stellantis intended to begin pilot production and testing of the Compass line by December 2026, followed by production of sellable vehicles in the following year.
But uncertainty grew by August 2026. Stellantis now expects to spend another year retooling the Belvidere plant, where the Compass would be built. As of September 2026, we don't know whether the Compass is even still on the roster.
What Could Power the Next Compass?

According to Motor Trend, Jeep hasn't confirmed the North American Compass powertrain yet, but it's likely to move to the STLA Medium platform, which supports gas, hybrid, and fully electric setups. A gas model could use an updated version of the previous Compass's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or an engine from Stellantis' smaller three- and four-cylinder engine family.
An eTorque mild-hybrid system similar to the one used by the Wrangler is another possibility. A PHEV is another potential direction for the next Compass. The STLA Medium platform also supports fully electric powertrains, giving Jeep the ability to develop an electric Compass as it expands its EV lineup beyond models such as the Wagoneer S.
Will the New Compass Be Bigger?
The next Compass could grow in length, width, and height as part of its redesign. Additional dimensions could translate into more passenger and cargo room. A larger Compass could also put it closer in size to compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
What Tech Could Jeep Add to the Compass?
A redesigned Compass gives Jeep an opportunity to update its cabin technology as well. A 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital driver display are possibilities. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also likely, while a wireless charging pad could supplement the standard USB ports. Higher trims may offer additional upgrades, including a premium audio system.
